Dive London start the season strongly with successes around the world

A team of 8 divers travelled to Bourge-en-Bresse representing GB at the first junior international competition of the year. Dive London Aquatics Club’s Maria Papworth (15) and Scarlett Mew Jensen (15) faced the field of elite junior athletes in the 7 Nations competition.

Maria and Scarlett who train at London Aquatics Centre took part in the 16-18yrs 1m, 3m and 3m synchro competitions. After a solid start by GB including the girls finishing in the top 5 on 3m, the pair then raised their game and took top podium spot in the 3m synchronised event ahead of a strong Swiss and German pair. Scarlett finished off the weekend with an excellent come back performance grabbing a Bronze on 1m.

Over the weekend GB collected 13 medals including 3 gold in France placing the nation top in the team points and retaining the team trophy in Britain for the second year running!

Tom Daley, won three bonze medals at the FINA World Diving Series in across the first weekend in April in Kazan, Russia. The medals were gained in Men’s 10m synchro alongside Dan Goodfellow, Individual 10m platform event, Mixed 2m synchro event with Grace Reid.

Up next for the London Aquatics Centre divers is the Canada Grand Prix, where Noah Williams and Shanice Lobb compete on 10m against some of the best in the world. Junior Nationals, where the best junior divers in the country compete in Plymouth. Junior International in Germany, where Noah Williams, Scarlett Mew Jensen and Maria Papworth will compete against over 15 nations.
