World Para Swimming Championships 2019
This September, London Aquatics Centre is very proud to welcome the World Para Swimming Championships. The event will be held at the centre from 9th – 15th September 2019. The event is the largest Para-Swimming championships outside of the Paralympic Games and it will see around 600 swimmers from approximately 60 countries compete. It is a key qualifier for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. We are delighted to be able to host such an inspiring event and hope you can join us for some of the action as it promises to be an exciting few days!
Tickets for the ten sessions cost between £1- £5 and are selling fast. Tickets are available to purchase here.
London Aquatics Centre Pool Closures
London Aquatics Centre will be closed to the public from 3rd - 15th September 2019. The Competition Pool, Training Pool and Diving Pool will not be open to the public during these dates.
- Better Swim UK members can use all pools across the UK and the closest 50m pool is London Fields Lido.
- Better Swim LAC members will have access to pools in the surrounding boroughs for the month of September.
Check out our Better local swimming pools in the area here.
London Aquatics Centre Gym
The gym and café will remain open throughout the event, but the crèche will be closed from 3rd – 15th September. The changing rooms and showers will not be available during these dates, so we recommend members use the gym facilities available at Copper Box Arena and we apologise for any inconvenience.
Lessons and Courses
Due to the pool closures at the London Aquatics Centre, all lessons and courses for Swimming and the Tom Daley Diving Academy will not be taking place between 3rd - 15th September 2019. We will be contacting customers to notify them of the class cancellations.
During the event
There will be very limited car parking spaces available throughout the event and we recommend using public transport when possible. The event organisers will be carrying out security bag checks with the public including Better members attending the centre during the event, therefore please allow some extra time if you are visiting the centre.
If you have any queries, please speak to a member of the team when you’re next in centre. We appreciate your patience during this time, and hope you can join us and attend what will be a truly inspiring sporting event.
