Arena Games Triathlon

The London Aquatics Centre will be hosting the Arena Games Triathlon, part of the first triathlon esports World Championships Series on the 23rd of April 2022.

Born from events over recent years, the Arena League Triathlon differs from your usual triathlon, due to its innovative and exciting indoor race concept. Expect an adrenaline-filled experience as the world-class athletes, including British Olympic gold medallists Alex Yee, Georgia-Taylor Brown and Jess Learmonth, take to our Olympic pool for a 200m swim, then battle it out on state-of-the-art bikes and treadmills for the 4km cycling and 1km running legs of the race. The race will be brought to life in the virtual world of Zwift, a virtual online training and racing platform providing real-time race data!

The triathletes will compete over two stages of swimming, cycling, and running, upon which the 10 fastest athletes of the day will compete in the finals for the chance to become the first ever Triathlon Esports World Champion.

Michael D'hulst, Super League Triathlon co-founder and CEO, said: "We cannot wait to return to the incredible London Aquatics Centre as the race to become the first triathlon esports World Champion really heats up on April 23. The Arena Games Triathlon powered by Zwift has taken the sporting world by storm and working together with World Triathlon we are aiming to get the format into the Olympics by 2028. We have some real British heroes racing and, for the first time we can welcome spectators in to cheer and are expecting a sell-out crowd. We have been carefully planning not only the racing but the entertainment as well so the fans can expect a spectacular show in a spectacular venue."

“We’re thrilled to be hosting this groundbreaking event, continuing the London Aquatics Centre’s legacy as a first-class venue for world-class athletes,” says Keith Griffiths, General Manager of the London Aquatics Centre.
